2. Elderberry Extract

(sambucus nigra, 50% alcohol/vol)

Has been used for colds, flu, hay fever, sinusitis, rheumatism, diarrhea. *

Recently, a study has shown that flavonoids from Elderberry extract "bind to H1N1 virions and, when bound, block the ability of the viruses to infect host cells..." and is "shown to inhibit H1N1 infection... Inhibition activities of the Elderberry flavonoids compare favorably to the known anti-influenza activities of Tamiflu and Amantadine."

Extract Dosage: When symptomatic, adult 10-25 drops 2-3 times daily in sip of water; children 7-10 drops 2-3 times daily in sip of water or juice . There will be a reduction in symptoms within 2-3 days, but continue to take for 8 days.

Active ingredients:
Fruit acids, vitamin C,
bioflavinoids, essential oil, essential fatty acids, and anthocyanidin.
